Your Life Path Number is believed to reveal your who you are, what your deepest values are and what challenges you might face in life. Your Destiny Number is your lucky number. It can determine your life’s purpose, meaning, goals and the direction of your life and what challenges you might face.

So how do you calculate these numbers?

The essence of numerology is all about getting to the root number. To arrive at the root number, you simply reduce digits. However, numbers 11 and 22 are excluded as these two numbers are Master Numbers (see my other article on Master Numbers Here).

Once you have reduced your digits to a single digit you have your individual Life Path Number.

Your Life Path Number very simply put is “the method to the madness”, it reveals your strengths and weaknesses, your goals and ambitions and your greater purpose. Additionally, it reveals why events occur in your life, past, present and future, so let’s calculate:

First take your birth date eg. 24.11.1986

Step 1 reduce the date 2 + 4 = 6

Step 2 reduce the month 1 + 1 = 2

Step 3 reduce the year 1 + 9 + 8 + 6= 24 then 24 is reduced to 2 + 4 = 6

Step 4 reduce the date, month and year numbers (6 + 2 + 6) = 14

Finally we add 1 + 4 = 5

So if you were born on the 24th of Novemeber in the year 1986 then your Life Number is 5.

Quite simple once you know how. So now we will calculate our Destiny Number. Destiny Numbers are based upon names. Witha little help from our ancient friend Pythagoras.

To do this we need to turn letters into numbers. According to Pythagoras, certain letters have numeric values as below:

1 = A, J, S

2 = B, K, T

3 = C, L, U

4 = D, M, V

5 = E, N, W

6 = F, O, X

7 = G, P, Y

8 = H, Q, Z

9 = I, R

Using your full name (first, middle, last) you can calculate your root number or Destiny Number as numerologists call it to a single digit and adding up the total.

Let’s be very simple here for an example of how calculate a Destiny Number. We will use the name David Smith. David (4 +1 + 4 + 4 = 13 which becomes 1 + 3 = 4). Smith (1 + 4 + 9 + 2 + 8 = 24 which become 2 + 4 = 6).

Then 4 + 6 = 10 which becomes 1 + 0 = 1

David Smith Destiny Number therefore is 1.

Now you have your Life Path and Destiny numbers it’s time to find out what they really mean. Please see my other articles to dig deeper into your Life Path and Destiny numbers.
